Scholars from across the Southeast region recently gathered on the campus of the University of South Alabama to share cutting-edge business research during the second annual Gulf South Business Research Conference. This interdisciplinary conference provided a platform for researchers to present working papers and completed studies from all fields of business. The conference was established in 2024 by Dr. Matt Howard, Mitchell College of Business Associate Professor and Interim Chair of Marketing, Supply Chain Management, and Analytics, and the inaugural conference chairs, Dr. Jennifer Zoghby and Dr. Britton Leggett.

The conference chairs welcomed submissions from a wide variety of business disciplines including but not limited to marketing, management and data analytics. Following peer review, more than 20 submissions were accepted into the conference. Conference sessions featured concise overviews of ongoing research, followed by interactive discussions. Topics of particular and repeated interest were applications of artificial intelligence to business processes, modern uses of advanced data analytics in organizations, enhancing the effectiveness of sales teams, and even modern trends in the economics of college sports.

The event fostered collaboration and encouraged developing research, providing a valuable forum for scholars. Plans are already underway for the third annual Gulf South Business Research Conference, set for Summer 2026.
